15 Ways to Use Vinegar for Home and Beauty

Vinegar is one of the most versatile ingredients in your kitchen. From trapping fruit flies to cleaning your microwave, removing odors, unclogging drains, and polishing windows — vinegar has countless uses around the house and in beauty routines.


1. Fruit Fly Trap
Dissolve 1/4 cup of brown sugar in a cup of hot water. Add a bit of dish soap and a gram of yeast. Pour in some apple cider vinegar. Place the trap in a well-lit area to attract and trap flies.

2. Microwave Cleaner and Deodorizer
Mix 1 cup of water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar in a glass bowl. Microwave for a few minutes, then let it sit for 5 minutes with the door closed. Dip a cloth in the water and wipe the interior clean.

3. Burnt Pan Cleaner
To clean burnt aluminum pots or pans, fill with water and a bit of white vinegar. Simmer for 10 minutes, then scrub with a non-abrasive scrubber. Rinse and wash as usual.

4. Fix Scratches on Wooden Furniture
Mix 1/2 cup of vinegar with 1/2 cup of olive oil. Dip a cloth and buff over scratched wooden surfaces to help hide imperfections and restore shine.

5. Wrinkle Remover for Clothes
Mix 3 parts water with 1 part white vinegar and a few drops of lavender or jasmine essential oil. Lightly mist over clothes and let dry to reduce wrinkles.

6. Sticker or Adhesive Remover
Soak tissue in white vinegar and place over the sticky label. Let sit to loosen the glue, then scrape off and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
