Fort Worth, Texas — An eight-year-old boy has spoken out after being left with devastating injuries when a driver in a black SUV struck him and sped off, leaving him bleeding in the street.

A Horrific Friday Evening

On Friday evening, just before 8 p.m., Liam Park was riding his bike with friends outside his family’s apartment building when tragedy struck. Despite a friend’s attempt to warn him, Liam didn’t hear in time before the vehicle hit him head-on.

“I felt like I was going to pass out because my eye, vision — I started to not be able to see good,” Liam recalled in an interview with CBS News.

Witnesses told police the driver not only struck the child but also got out of the car, looked at him lying injured on the road, and then drove away.

Injuries and Trauma

Liam’s mother, Baylea Christiansen, rushed to the scene after friends ran to their door. She found her son “covered in blood from his face to his arm,” screaming in pain.

The boy sustained severe skin abrasions to his arms and face along with widespread bruising. Miraculously, doctors confirmed he suffered no broken bones — a fact his family credits to his bicycle, which they believe cushioned him from an even worse impact.

Still, the emotional scars run deep. “It’s hard to sleep and it hurts,” Liam said softly. His mother added that he cries through the night, shakes in his sleep, and has been eating less since the incident.

A Family’s Plea for Justice

Christiansen condemned the driver’s actions: “I hope that you’re found, and I hope that you’re going to pay for that. For all you know, my son could be dead right now.”

Together with Liam’s father, Kyle Park, she launched a GoFundMe to cover legal representation, court and investigation fees, and relocation costs. The fundraiser has already raised more than $2,800 as of Tuesday morning.

“He has been left injured, shaken, and deeply traumatized by this horrific event,” the parents wrote. “He’s such a strong and brave boy, and he did not deserve what this person did to him.”

Community Support and Police Investigation

Supporters have rallied around the family online, with Christiansen vowing to fight not only for her son but also for other hit-and-run victims: “No child or family should ever go through what ours is facing right now.”

The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Fort Worth Police Department is currently leading the case, but no arrests have been made.
