Once abandoned in a remote, rarely visited area, a tiny puppy was left to face a frightening and lonely reality. Confused and uncertain of where to go, the little one chose to stay in the same spot, clinging to the hope that someone might come back for it.

Fortune intervened when a mountain biker stumbled upon the pup and quickly contacted me. Three hours later, we were sitting in a veterinary office with the terrified little dog. Medication was administered immediately to ease its discomfort, and soon the relentless itching began to subside. I couldn’t help but wonder about its mother, who might have been desperately missing her lost baby, as mother dogs instinctively keep their young close and protected.

Though the road ahead seemed long, within just a few days, the puppy’s spirit began to change. Curiosity replaced some of its fear, and it started cautiously observing its surroundings. Still, it clung to me for reassurance, rarely straying too far without looking back for comfort.

Over time, confidence began to bloom. One day, when it spotted me from afar, the little pup bolted in my direction with uncontainable joy, as if it had finally found its guardian. The sky was clear, the day serene, and for the first time, we shared a moment of peace together.

A New Name, A New Beginning

We named her Amber — a symbol of warmth and light after darkness. Slowly, her skin condition improved, soft fur began to grow back, and she finally received proper nourishment.

But just as hope was rising, another challenge emerged: Amber suddenly couldn’t walk and cried out in pain. Veterinary tests and X-rays revealed gastritis. Thankfully, the doctors stabilized her, easing her suffering. At first, she struggled to eat while standing, but gradually, her strength returned.
