Abandoned “unicorn” puppy with tail growing from his head rescued from freezing cold

Meet Narwhal: The Magical "Unicorn" Puppy Capturing Hearts Everywhere

A truly one-of-a-kind puppy—affectionately nicknamed the “magical unicorn”—is melting hearts around the world after being rescued from freezing temperatures.

The remarkable pup, now named Narwhal the Little Magical Furry Unicorn, was discovered by the Missouri-based animal rescue organization Mac’s Mission while wandering outside with an older dog. Though he had a minor foot injury, what stunned rescuers most was the tiny second tail growing out of his forehead—right between his eyes.

The rescue team quickly took Narwhal to the vet for x-rays, curious about the purpose of the extra tail. Fortunately, the scans showed that the tail isn’t connected to anything internally—it doesn’t wag and serves no medical purpose, but it certainly adds to his irresistible charm.

“The unicorn face tail does not bother Narwhal, and he never slows down—he acts just like any normal, happy puppy,” Mac’s Mission shared. “Aside from a few common puppy worms (which he’s being treated for), he’s perfectly healthy.”

Mac’s Mission posted photos and videos of the fluffy unicorn pup on social media, and Narwhal quickly became an internet sensation. One clip shows him playing and bounding around joyfully, completely unbothered by his extra tail.

For now, the organization isn’t accepting adoption applications for Narwhal. They want to ensure his unique appendage won’t pose any health issues as he grows.

“We are not accepting applications for him right now until we are very certain his unicorn horn isn’t going to have a growth spurt and become an issue,” the rescue wrote. “(No, it does not wag) (Yes, he is keeping it) (Yes, he is amazingly awesome!!)”

Narwhal’s story is doing more than just capturing attention—it’s raising awareness for other special-needs dogs cared for by Mac’s Mission.

“I don’t understand what ‘viral’ is,” read a post from Narwhal’s perspective, “but my foster mama said my story helps ALL our special needs dogs here at the Mission. You’re welcome!”

With his magical look, loving spirit, and newfound internet fame, Narwhal is more than just a puppy—he’s a symbol of how being different can be truly beautiful.
