For the Cake:

150g granulated sugar

For the Topping:

300ml heavy whipping cream (chilled)

200g fresh cherries (pitted or whole, for garnish)

100g dark chocolate shards or curls
π§ Instructions
1. Preheat and Prep:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a round or square cake tin.
2. Melt Chocolate & Butter:
In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts. Stir until smooth and glossy.
3. Beat Eggs & Sugar:
In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until pale, thick, and creamy (about 3–4 minutes).
4. Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:
Gently fold in the melted chocolate mixture. Sift in the flour and baking powder, then stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
5. Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into your prepared cake tin. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.

6. Whip the Cream:
Using a chilled bowl and beaters, whip the cream until soft to medium peaks form. Do not overbeat.
7. Decorate:
Spread a thick layer of whipped cream evenly over the cooled cake. Pipe some cream on top if desired for decoration.
8. Add the Finishing Touches:
